DO’S & DON’TS FOR NATURALLY BEAUTIFUL SKIN

The flawless, blemish and acne-free skin that you've always desired is no more a dream, but reality.  Here are dazzling face care tips to get that glow you've always wanted.

1. Aureate Rule

Do: Make sure you always remove your makeup before hitting the sheets. The skin needs to breathe overnight. And makeup prevents that, as leaving it on overnight clogs the pores which may cause blemishes and/or blackheads. Don’t possess a makeup remover? Just put some olive oil on a cotton pad and gently massage the oil onto your face to get rid of the makeup and dirt.

Don’t: Forget that exfoliation is indispensable. At least once or twice a week, exfoliate your skin to remove the layers of dead skin, sure to leave you with a healthier glow and brighter skin.  Mix a half-cup white or brown sugar with enough olive or grape seed oil to make a paste and apply to face in circular motion. Let sit for 10 minutes and wash away with warm water. Lemon juice is another natural alpha hydroxyl acid that removes dead skin cells.

2. Skin & Sun

Do: Sun tanning occurs because exposure to sunlight causes the skin to produce more melanin and to darken. The tan fades as these cells move toward the surface and are sloughed off. Too much exposure to ultraviolet or UV rays can cause sunburn.  Apply sunscreen with SPF of at least 15 that blocks both UVA and UVB rays.

Don’t: ever Skip sunscreen, whether it's cloudy or cold outside (no excuses). If you’re heading to a beach or around reflective surfaces like snow or ice, lather your skin up with some more sunscreen with SPF of at least 30.

3. Healthy Diet

Do: Use Olive oil & tomatoes in your diet which have antioxidants that help block the chemical reactions that lead to sun damage.  Spinach has major anti-ager, which help to prevent wrinkles and remove dead skin.  A diet rich in vitamin C and low in fats and sugar promotes radiant skin.

Don’t: consume spicy and fermented foods, salt, citrus fruits, fried food. Instead eat foods which include protein, fresh fruits & vegetables, Oats etc.

4. Perspire it out

Do: By increasing blood flow, exercise helps nourish skin cells and keep them vital. "Blood carries oxygen and nutrients to working cells throughout the body, including the skin”.  Running, jogging and yoga will give your body the necessary blood circulation, and also accelerate the cleansing process of your entire body.  You will notice a glow on your face after working out.  Sweating can be a great way to detoxify your skin.

Don’t: be too aggressive with your skin.  Don’t caper skin care before & after work outs.  Apply olive oil or shea butter to moisture skin.  Resist the urge to over-scrub: even the most killer spin class doesn't call for major exfoliation. Too much exfoliation can dehydrate your skin, lead to eczema or exacerbate acne. Instead, wash away sweat with a gentle cleanser.

5. Knockout Sleep

Do: Your body boosts blood flow to the skin while you snooze, which means you wake to a healthy glow. Skimp on sleep and your complexion can look drab, ashen, or lifeless. “Sleep deprivation causes a decrease in blood flow to the skin surrounding your face”.  So, try to sleep at least 8 hrs every night.

Don’t:  “Never, ever go to sleep with your makeup on.  Even on Super late nights, make sure to cleanse your face”.  Apply toner & switch to silk Pillowcase.

6. H2O to Redeem

Do: drink enough water every day.  Water is an essential component for the effective functioning of our body. Approximately 50 to 70% of our body mass is made up of water, including skin, tissues, cells and the organs.  Water staves off dehydration. Dehydration is a condition in which the body doesn’t have enough water to support the vital functions.  Water removes toxins and waste products from the body thereby cleansing it.

Don’t: Ignore rose water. It helps prevent and reduce eye puffiness in the morning, maintains pH balance and naturally hydrates your skin if you spritz it on during the day. Water is required to process all the nutrients from the food we eat and carry the assimilated nutrients to the cells by circulating through the lymphatic system.
